Structured education courses

The term ‘Structured Education’ is used by healthcare professionals to describe a patient education programme whose content has been planned, so that the programme supports learning in relation to certain key topics.

DAFNE and DESMOND are examples of structured education courses that have been developed for people with diabetes. These courses have been proven to reduce the risk of a number of diabetes-related health problems. Because their success is well established it is recommended that everyone with diabetes should attend one of these courses—DAFNE in the case of people with type 1 diabetes, and DESMOND for people with type 2 diabetes.

Courses are free and are provided at a range of sites in Lambeth and Southwark. For more information see DAFNE or DESMOND, or click on the Features on the left of this page.
