King's children/young persons service

The King’s College Hospital Paediatric Diabetes Team offers age-banded clinic appointments including joint transition clinics with the Adult Diabetes Service at King’s. The Team is made up of a Consultant Paediatric Endocrinologist, a Consultant Paediatrician with a special interest in diabetes, two paediatric diabetes specialist nurses and a diabetes specialist dietitian. There is also access to a clinical psychologist during clinic visits.

The aim of the clinic is to provide seamless care and improve engagement of patients and their families throughout their lives with diabetes, with access to further support as and when needed. The team also work with Guy’s and St Thomas’ Diabetes Unit and the King’s Youth Worker to provide accessible, informative and enjoyable days both for young people with diabetes and younger age groups with increasing success.

Who Is the Service For?

The service is for children and young adults with diabetes up to the age of 21 years of age who reside in Southwark.
