Pioneering research into diabetes is crucially important in terms of developing our understanding of the condition and potential new treatments and cures.
As part of the recent World Diabetes Day- November 14, please take a look at the attached video and in which Dr. Yuk-Fun Liu, research registrar from Guy's & St. Thomas' Hospitals, describes her latest research work. This pioneering research investigates the role of immune system modulating therapies in the context of type 1 diabetes. The ultimate aim is to develop a type of vaccine which will preserve insulin producing (beta) cells in the pancreas in the early stages of this condition.
